CEILING OF ENGLAND
The Canon G12 went pop so back to the I-Phone, which is a shame considering I’m in NZ and the sights are incredible. Here are some rubbish photos.
Like all good bloggy things, 2FLAT has been quiet. Not from lack of trying, or lack of things to say or blog about, but rather because of being overloaded with things to bloggerize. I have just packed my bags yet again and at any moment I hope to be jumping the Transit and leaving rural…
This morning I woke up to the coolest letter I can ever imagine getting from a teacher. I’m partly disturbed and partly stoked that kids would rather read my dribble than actually learn something from one of the great pillars of literature, and that now I could be a role model, simply because I like…
Last weekend we ignored the weather reports and drove to Lousa – Portugal’s DH capital. It was shitty weather and I almost pulled the pin in the morning as the rain came down. However, I am glad I didn’t as the riding was so rad. The trails would be good in the dry, but in…
Portugal is a source of fun and games if you look really hard. Shopping is a source of giggles. Take prophylactics for example, giggles ville I think you will agree. Portugal is a funny place for sex. For one I’m amazed it happens here as everyone looks about 15 years past menopause. Secondly, I think…
Smoking is still considered a necessary part of a Portuguese persons well-being. Like breathing, sleeping and farting, smoking is just an unavoidable part of living. In fact, I’m pretty sure most Portuguese would say they would stop breathing, sleeping and farting before they gave up their beloved smokes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a…
Here’s a little video I knocked up about the BIKE Magazine Bible issue. Bison BC is the thrashing…
BIKE MAGAZINE have honored me by asking me 11 Questions for their website. Check it out HERE. The intro is from my Bible bio “Seb Kemp is a jack of all trades, master of none. Depending on the day of the week or time of the year he will tell you he is either a…
I am in danger of turning this blog into an internet version of a bar room full of second hand smoke, which is to say that I am just regurgitating videos I have found on the net. However, this one is so personally important to me, and this is my blog after all, so it…
As I am too tight to upgrade to full on paid WordPress service, and the tech heads behind WordPress have some grand nefarious scheme behind not allowing Vimeo videos to be imbedded this quick post is going to be have more blue highlights than a Spanish movie with Penelope Cruz in it. This post is…
So a slight change to the scheduled programming. I promise I’ll get back to boarder line bigoted, badly typed, jibberjabber posts soon, but for now I just wanted to have a little me time. It’s the only seventh day of January and already this year has been an absolute banger of a year. Cover shots,…
Portugal…hmmm…where to begin, or more so, how to continue once I have begun if the beginning is a tirade of disgruntlement? My thoughts on Portugal are like a Jersey Shore pawn star, very mixed up.
If you click HERE you will be magically teleported to DEFGRIP’s round up of all their original video content from 2010. It is stacked with cleanly executed, truthful journalism, inspiring stories, and portraits of the people and lifestyle of BMXers. My favourites are the Ruben Original and the Oakley/DEFGRIP Chase Hawk videos. Showing that simple…
I almost dropped the whole subject. In fact, it was today, whilst up to my ankles in mud that was running down the hill, with boots that were acting only as exercise weights, water-proof gear that is leaking worse than a disaffected US army intelligence officer, and shards of silicon stinging my finger tips so…
I love traveling light and I hate having too many possessions. Call me a hippy, but I just don’t get excited by owning things. With the exception of a few clothes, a good bike and a few digital tools, I own very little. I get anxious if I have more possessions than can be swiftly…
I went to Sintra at the weekend. A town with a difference. The difference being the imaginations of the architects, aristocrats and noblemen that lived there. Go and have a look elsewhere for some good photos of the place and be amazed at the design of the town. I am currently downsizing my life so…
DIRT MAGAZINE are in their second (or is it third?) incarnation of the “100” issue. The Dirt 100 is a beautiful magazine layout of 100 products that Dirt think deserve special attention. It is full of stunning product photographs that give the whole issue a very sexy style to it. Seriously, go check it out if…
So hopefully you have read and consider the below post COULD THIS BE THE ANSWER? Well here’s an update in the form of a couple more links to some inspiring videos that explain clearly what we are talking about here; It’s not a website, and it’s not a magazine uploaded to the web, it’s a…
In amongst the pile of magazines that were sitting on the coffee table of the new digs, an older issue of Spoke Magazine sat there waiting for another good old fingering. That’s what I love about magazines, I can come across an old issue of a good magazine and I just have to lose myself…
Whilst trolling the globe via the virtual pedestrian path that is Portuguese internet connection I stumbled upon this gem left at the side of the road. COULD THIS BE THE ANSWER? Ok, so it’s Martha Stewart and her magazine is about lady hobbies like poenies, ponies, and pies made with filo pastry, but look around…
I was fortunate enough tonight to have a dear friend introduce me to the work of poet Robert W Service. In particular my friend wanted to highlight an extract from a poem titled “The Spell of the Yukon”, after recent discussions on the great spaces we crave and seem only to find when in the…
[Note that this entry was borrowed from Seb Kemp’s blog 2FLAT and was written back in November. Soon we will have a catch up with Seb about how he has got on with the Butcher over the last nine months] Beautiful isn’t she? No I’m not talking about Squirrel in his prime, I’m talking about…
Wow, the internet does help sells stuff. That’s right some Belgian dude ordered a t-shirt from Chromag based on the fact there is a picture on the net of an old guy in the t-shirt who should know better, being held by two young girls at Interbike. If you have time to burn pop over…
It’s being a big few months for the old writing gig. In fact I will go as far as to say that this Northern Hemisphere summer was really hectic and I don’t know how I managed to produce so much content for so many mountain bike magazines, all of it I am really proud of…
Been in Portugal a week and I can say this about the place: It’s colder than expected. It’s as beautiful and old as expected. Everyone is old, like really old. Youngish people don’t exist (i’m talking less than 40). Everyone seems to be pretty unfriendly and cold. No smiling to strangers on the street. That’s…
Makes you think.
FREEHUB Magazine continues to get better and better. Based out of Bellingham, WA, they cover the real heros and underground workings of the mountian bike industry without pampering to the same people and companies you see in every other magazine. They go on-line with all the articles, then produce the on-line magazine, then print it.…
I’m a massive fan of VBS.tv and through watching various oddities I recently became aware of Die Antwoord. I’m sure city folks are yawning about how behind the times I am, but I have to through up some videos of Die Antwoord here in case there’s even one person who hasn’t seen or heard of…
Knuckleheads is a rad bar. Located in San Clemente, Orange County it still upholds proper man bar tradition, namely cheap booze, dirty floors, pool tables, a juke box, really mental bar flies, and no nonsense. They even let dogs roam around inside the bar, have a punch bag machine, and flirtatious bar wenches.
cameron zink (@CamZink) 11/18/10 7:18 PM Big thanks to Seb Kemp from Dirt Mag for writing the kind words! Sven Martin made me do it, but I am now on Twitter. Not sure what I do with it, but it’s defo not just a glorified facebook status thingy. Today the above post came up…
So the latest issue of Revolution is out. I forget what issue number it is, they don’t appear to have a website, and I haven’t actually seen the copy myself yet. Anyway, once again I’ve got a ton of content in there. First up is a four pager on the Four Queens race which took…
I don’t want to turn this into just another website that acts as another tiny piece of machinery in making videos viral, but this week I’ve seen some pretty inspirational web videos so I thought I would share.
Early morning pedal down to the surf to watch some fights. Unfortunately there was no action. So I’m currently living in a SoCal surf town for a couple of weeks. I’ve always wanted to try this lifestyle and read the reality behind the celluloid image. Not much to report as yet, more to come on…
Because some of the team were pissing around.
Last weekend Anthony Smith and myself had the pleasure of using Bend, OR to break up our mammoth journey from Bellingham, WA to San Clemente, CA. Here are a few I-Phone photos of the weekend there that was far too short.
Inspired by the blockbuster movie ‘Inception’ I decided to make my own multi dimensional special effects laden movie. Actually during the 14 hour drive-athon from Bend. OR to San Clemente, CA I decided I needed something to keep my interest in breathing. Interstate 5 sucks donkey dick for stimulating views and landscapes. Shot on location…
The above photo was the first ever photo I had published of me in a magazine (its the lower right one of the dude arse and appeared in SPOKE MAGAZINE). It was taken by Tim Pierce in 2008 at the Frew Farm Jam. Tim was a young photog that had incredible skills and an eye…
A couple weekends ago a few of us took a wee trip to Seattle. The original purpose was to take part in the SXSSWCs (Cyclo Cross Single Speed World Champs), but after a long week smashing DH laps on some of the top downhill bikes we decided we weren’t prepared to be that odd. Instead…

My good German buddy, Philip “SourKraut” Lehmann has started a mountain bike club to save his local trails. This dude does it all but then finds time to start a club and be da’ baoss too. Many people have had to go the legit route to save their trails but most people call their club…
Tonight I am blowing out the blog. More posts than you can shake a dead hooker at. Tonight there has been much talk about dead hookers. Our American friends reckon dead hookers are what make Canadian bacon taste so good. Bellingham. Thank you, good night. In the meantime, check this out…
The Whistler Bike Park closed this past weekend. Not because of the end of the season or anything, just because this chick decided to give everyone eye aids and everyone then puked so hard that the Bike Park was deemed too diseased to open anymore. Thanks puke mistress.
